little "a"
Some day I will tell you why little "a" is significant. I live in a small town in Iowa with my husband and animals, one dog, and two cats. I love to spend time with my family, run, take photos, and teach.

New Grandma!!
Well, as of July 3, 2012 I have a new granddaughter, Roslynne Mae, all 6 lbs 8 oz of her. Getting to be around to help my daughter this summer is very special. I'm a teacher and since she had Roz on July 3rd, I still have time before I go back to school to help. Here I am taking her for a walk!!

Monticello Dam photos
I had fun last night taking photos at the dam outside of town. I'm practicing with my new wide angle lengs and polarizing filter to get "silky" photos

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me! ~Dr. Seuss
Just when I think I've made some forward progress in life, something happens to drag me back to a memory that's not so good.

Iowa
I've come to appreciate Iowa much more this summer after a visit to Miami, Florida in June. I knew that Iowa was very hot and humid in the summer, yet still beautiful. Go to Miami in June, it is not only hot and humid, but really not that pretty. All I could see were all the bars on the houses, peach/orange colored stucco houses, dead palm trees, and LOTS of cars and people. I am spoiled here. If I am tired of our little town I can drive a short distance to the Mississippi, or in the other direction to Des Moines to find something to do. Yes, Miami has beautiful sunsets, IF you can get to the ocean or can find a place where the buildings don't get in the way. I am sure I will feel differently in December and January though.
